Drawing Dynamic Hands is a really good book on drawing hands. It explains almost everything you need from the form, structures, proportions, anatomical landmarks, functions to foreshortening. The illustrated examples are plentiful with hands in almost every humanly possible pose. There are so many to practice from/5(69). A new drawing book of modes, by Mons. B. Picart. This book covers drawing for the first chapters then quickly switches mediums. If you want a singular book on drawing then I’d instead recommend the first books at the top of this list. However I wouldn’t say this book is bad or incorrect in how it teaches drawing. The human head and hands are the most difficult elements in figure drawing, but world-class illustrator Andrew Loomis' classic primer offers the solution. Revered among artists for his mastery of figure drawing and clean, realist style, Loomis' hugely influential art instruction books have never been bettered/5(5K).

Drawing Hands & Feet. Another artist+author that I greatly respect is Giovanni Civardi. He’s written many art books on specific topics including Drawing Hands & Feet. This one is much more recent than Hogarth’s book, but it’s also a lot shorter with only 64 pages.
However this also isn’t made for complete beginners. Drawing Dynamic Hands is a really Drawing Hands Address Book book book on drawing hands.

That's not to say that there is nothing of value here (not to mention more beautiful art by Loomis), but in terms of nuts and bolts drawing instruction on the subject of hands and heads, there isn't as much information to learn as you might get from "Creative Illustration" or /5.
